Overview

Master of Science in Occupational and Environmental Health (International Program) for Thai and International students is a program that focuses on a thesis in health science.

Graduates who complete this program will be health leaders with knowledge and skills in occupational health and safety and environmental health, with morality and ethics in their careers, with a mindset that is up-to-date with changes in health problems in the context of global society. They can effectively communicate health and apply technology. They can integrate knowledge and innovations in occupational health and safety, and environmental health that can work with other disciplines through research, analysis, and synthesis to assess the situation, as well as apply knowledge to develop solutions and manage new problems systematically, including taking care of their health holistically.

Background and Rational

This course aims to produce researchers with special skills in these areas equipped with up-to-date knowledge of relevant technological innovations. There is comprehensive coverage of theory and practice and an emphasis on the development of research skills enabling students to apply their knowledge to find practical solutions to real public health issues.

The M.Sc. provides the necessary skills, knowledge, and competencies to enable students to critically evaluate risk posed by the full range of occupational and environmental health hazards, or stressors, which have impacts on human health and well-being. Courses will be delivered by academic staff with wide practical experience as well as active research interests.

The course is conducted using a practically-based teaching and learning processes including lectures, workshops, group work, case studies, practical assignments, site visits, and student-centered learning. This ensures graduates to gain experience on the challenge of current problem-based research and state of the art methods.

This program offers several specialized subjects in three fields; occupational health, ergonomics, and safety and environmental health. It will be conducted in a semester system with 36 credits in total. For the first two semesters, students focus on core compulsory courses and scientific topics related to their selected fields of study. Elective courses complement the core courses and their interested research topics.

Applications for the M.Sc. Program are accepted from September of the year preceding enrolment to June 30 at 11:59:59 p.m. in the GMT+07:00 time zone. All application materials must be submitted before this admission deadline.



Study Duration

The full-time program is designed to be completed within a maximum duration of 8 semesters (maximum) The academic system follows a bi-semester structure, with one academic year divided into two regular semesters. Each regular semester consists of no fewer than 15 weeks of instruction.

Requirements for Graduation

  • Complete all course requirements of the particular program.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00.
  • English competence standard and English competence assessment criteria of master degree students. All master degree students must have:

    • 1. a TOEFL Paper-based score with a minimum of 550; or a TOEFL Internet-based score with a minimum of 79; or
    • 2. an IELTS Academic module score with a minimum of 6.5; or
    • 3. a TU-GET (Thammasat University General English Test) score with a minimum of 550 for Paper-based points or a minimum of 79 for Internet-based points
  • Complete the thesis/thematic paper and successfully defend it
  • Thesis or part of the thesis shall be published, or at least be accepted to be published in a recognized international journal according to the criteria set in the Announcement of Office of the Higher Education Commission on Dissemination of Academic papers.
    Acceptable databases include: International databases: ERIC, MathSciNet, PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science (only SCIE, SSCI, and AHCI), JSTOR, and Project Muse
  • The thesis, or a part thereof, shall have been published or, at a minimum, disseminated in the form of an international article, innovation, invention, or other scholarly work that is retrievable in accordance with the criteria set by the University Council.
  • Must meet the requirements for graduating according to the Program Specification and related conditions before submitting a graduation request to the faculty in the last enrolled semester.
  • No debts still not paid, once the graduation requested.
